USER DEFINED TISSUE PARAMETERS:
Optional values for tissue parameters can be entered here, and they are referred to as "User defined" in the menus.
INPUT your parameters in fields.
dB/Np 8,686
The User Defined values must be entered as 1 Neper = 1dB/8,686
Neper/cm, - not as dB/cm:
1dB= 1Np*8,686
Symbol alfa a Z Cm density(rho)
Parameter Attenuation Absorption Acoustic Specific Specific

USER INPUT:
Tissue Layer 1 (Max 10 cm) Select Tissue TYPE from pull-down menu: muscle, fat, blood etc Layer1 is the most prevailing superficial tissue layer,e.g. muscle
Layer 2 (Max 5 cm) Enter tissue thickness in cm, with 1 decimal, e.g.: 2,5 cm. Layer2 is the more profound tissue e.g. bone.
Distance (d) from skin to lesion =
How far beyond the skin surface is the lesion? Use palpation, and anatomical knowledge. MR-scan og Ultrasound scan, are very helpfull when available.
Therapeutic Intensity, I(d)=
Enter the intensity desired in the lesion, the therapeutic intensity
frequency=
Enter the frequency of the ultrasound, e.g. 1 MHz Usually available from 0,75 MHz to 3 MHz in physiotherapy devices. Any option can be entered.
Show Reflexion:
Turn the display of reflexion ON/OFF by a click Reflexion bouncing off the interface between layer 1 and 2 and back from the exterior surface, shown graphically.
Pulse-ratio=
Displays the decimal value og the pulse-ratio 1,0= 100%= continuous TRUE 1:9= 10% time on, = 0,1 etc.
Select Pulse-regime from menu:
Select Pulse regime by clicking a "radio-button"
Local TreatmentTime, lt=
The therapeutic exposure time for a cell in the lesion
Transduzer size(ERA)=
The cross-section of the ultrasound beam. Often called the ERA (Effective Radiation Area). Read on the apparatus/ Transducer.
Lesion area (A)=
The size of the lesion= The target tissue area, that is supposed to be exposed to ultrasound.
To obtain the Target values select
Apparatus INTENSITY setting
NOT adjusted for reflexion=
Tweak or dial in this INTENSITY SETTING on your Ultrasound Device to obtain the desired dosage in the lesion.
RISK:
When the Apparatus Intensity is below 2W/cm², you'll see RISK: "OK", - otherwise RISK: HIGH INTENSITY
And Apparatus TIMER setting =
Tweak or dial in this TIMER SETTING on your Ultrasound Device to obtain the desired local exposure time in the lesion.
RESULTS (including reflexions)
Where the reflected wave interferes with the primary wave, the intensity can build up to this value.
And You may wish to COMPENSATE for REFLEXION, by turning down the THERAPEUTIC INTENSITY, maybe som 30%. Gradual adjustment can provide more precise results.
Highest Intensity=
The highest intensity including reflexion ocurring at the skin surface.
Generated heat at d=
The heat generated in the lesion.
The highest value of heat generation (including reflexion) found in layer #1
The highest value of heat generation (including reflexion) found in layer #2
RESULTS (WITHOUT reflexions)
Generated heat at d=
Heat generated at the lesion without regard to reflexion
The highest value of heat generation (excluding reflexion) found in layer #1
The highest value of heat generation (excluding reflexion) found in layer #2
